A Guide to Designing Mobile Apps
Writing and designing a mobile app for Android or iOS can be a challenging task. Here are some tips on how to write a better mobile app.
If you focus on doing one thing very well, you are bound to have the best mobile app. Your mobile app can be described in a simple sentence and nothing more.
You should be able to use the back button appropriately. Consistency in navigating the user back when using the back button in an Android with the native OS supplied back button should be an app feature. On iOS there should be a back button on the top-left corner because this is where users will look for it.
The shortcoming of some app designers is that they do not think so much of how the screen will look like when the on-screen keyboard is up. When you test your on-screen key board make sure that the user has enough on-screen context so that they will know what they are doing when the on-screen keyboard is activated.
A Simple Plan: Businesses
You should consider placeholders thoughtfully and they are best placed inside of the field when there are only a few data input fields so that your app will not look disorganized.
The Beginners Guide To Designs (Chapter 1)
Make sure that the buttons used in your app are big enough so users will not have a difficult time using it especially if they have small phones.
There are differences in button placements so make sure your consider this well. Remember that when a user is holding a smartphone, the lower half of the screen can easily be reached by the thumb. Whether right handed or left handed, users can easily reach the bottom right or the bottom left, respectively, of their smartphones. Keep this is mind if you want users to be able to use your app with one hand.
It would help to know the possible responses a user will need for the requests you will make for input. You should make it convenient for the user in a way that he is able to have the necessary information to make a decision on the very location where he need to input it.
Make sure to watch your image resolution. Beauty of smartphones come with their high resolutions. The app will look grainy and fuzzy if you are still using low resolution images. High resolution images will look great on your app.
A successful mobile app is greatly dependent upon the user interface design. Mobile apps with great user interface will be preferred by users over apps which are faster and more functional but with interface which are not so easy to use. Successful apps that has power in the marketplace are those that users can learn and use easily.
